“Stayed in the "République" area, right on a convergence of the 10th, 3rd, and 11th arrondissements. Our hotel (Paix République) was accommodating, friendly, and best of all, had a metro stop literally two steps from the entrance (line 8, though there are five lines which radiate from République, so getting around the city by metro couldn't be easier). We were given a room on the top floor (French 6th floor, 7th floor American) which, was comfy, intimate, had an anti-chambre with a main bedroom in an oval, at the end of a wedge-shaped building. But, the view was extraordinary.... From left to right we could see from our window, the Panthéon (highly recommended if you're into French and Parisian history and culture), the Montparnasse tower, the dome of the Invalides, the dome of the Opera Garnier, and finally Sacré Coeur. Contrary to the guide books, we found "place de la République" to be quite entertaining, full of restaurants in all price ranges and options (ranging from Quick, McDonald's & KFC, to Alsatian Brasseries, to seafood, to moderate dining with good "prix fixe" menus, to some upper price/dress places).... all within a five-minute walk around the "place". The atmosphere is "convivial" and even at night, we did not feel uncomfortable walking around .... the area is very animated until late into the night, so there's lots of folks. A couple of banks and theatres are around, plus a Monoprix (think small Walmart store) and a killer patisserie / boulangerie right off the "place" on blvd du Temple.

“Recently stayed at this hotel, the Paix République in Paris for two nights. Excellent location, just off the Place De La Republique. The metro station is only a stone's throw from the hotel and has access to 10 main metro lines, and only three stops from the Gare Du Nord (7 minutes by metro). Makes this hotel a excellent choice for people travelling to Paris by Eurostar. The hotel itself is a typical looking Paris building using large white stone. We found the reception staff to be very friendly, all speaking English and very informative. The lounge/lobby is very clean, as is the breakfast room. The bedrooms are larger than average with all the facilities you would expect in a three star hotel. In summary, this hotel is a good choice as you have good access for the metro, the Eurostar and many good restaurants and bars for all tastes and budgets in a few minutes walk from the hotel.”
